Meet the team

ABAC New Zealand member, Anna was a member of the global Xero leadership team for seven years, holding the positions of Chief Product Officer, Chief Partner Officer and prior to that Managing Director – New Zealand. She is now a board director, advisor and investor, using her tech experience and nearly 20 years in the fInancial services industry to advise global companies. Anna wants to supercharge the New Zealand economy by supporting the governance of Kiwi businesses like Gallagher, Kiwibank, Jade Software and Atomic.io.

Anna advocates for diversity within the tech industry and is passionate about encouraging women and other under represented groups to take up STEM opportunities.

In 2017 the global SaaS Report named Anna one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in SaaS and in 2023 she was named in the Top 100 Women in FinTech. She has also been recognised by the business community locally as Young Enterprise Distinguished Alumni of the Year and Supreme Alumni of the Year winner in 2022.

Anna was a member of the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Council from 2018 – 2020. In 2021 Anna was appointed as one of the three APEC Business Advisory New Zealand Members by Dame Jacinda Adern, and was reappointed for another term by The Rt Hon Christopher Luxon in 2024. During her tenure at ABAC, Anna has co-chaired the Digital Working Group, chaired the Economic Integration Working Group and led the WTO workstream.

Brett O’Riley is the Managing Director of advisory company OCGL. His governance roles include being a Board member of the Environmental Protection Authority, Executive Chair of infrastructure advisor GSD Corporation, President of international sporting federation World Bowls, and Vice President (Northern) of the New Zealand China Friendship Society. Brett is also an advisor to international companies including Tata Consultancy Services, SBS, and Voluntas, and several private companies.

On ABAC, Brett leads the workstream on climate change and trade, including green transitions, in the Sustainability Working Group and is a member of the ABAC voluntary carbon markets forum.

Brett was previously CEO of the EMA, New Zealand’s largest business association, and has held other CEO roles in the private and public sectors in New Zealand and Australia. He has been involved in many government boards and advisory groups since returning to New Zealand in 2009, across multiple domains including infrastructure, economic growth, technology, education, film commissioning, advanced manufacturing, sport, land information, and pandemic responses.

Brett is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, with post graduate qualifications from MIT and Singularity University.

Sarah Ottrey’s international marketing management and governance career has been spent championing the brands and business of Aotearoa New Zealand with a focus on growing travel and tourism, agribusiness and food, health and sustainability.

She is currently the Chairperson of Christchurch International Airport, the world’s gateway to the unmatched beauty and adventure attractions of the South Island. In addition, she is Chairperson of The Whitestone Cheese Co Ltd, New Zealand’s leading specialty cheesemaker, and a company director of the international tourism and hospitality company Skyline Enterprises Ltd (Skyline Luge welcomes guests in NZ, Canada, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia), and the premium Mt Cook Alpine Salmon, the world’s only producer and exporter of freshwater king salmon.

In 2024, she was a delegate on the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Trade Missions to Southeast Asia and Japan and Business Delegate Leader to Malaysia and Korea. In 2025, Sarah led the business delegation in the Prime Minister’s Trade Mission to Vietnam, and was a delegate on the Prime Minister’s China Mission. She is also a member of the NZ China Business Council.

As a Chartered Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, she advocates for diversity at the board table and strong governance that supports resilient, sustainable, competitive and growing organisations.

Stephanie Honey is a well-known commentator, speaker and author on trade policy issues internationally. Formerly a New Zealand trade negotiator, she is the director of Honey Consulting Ltd, a trade policy and strategy consultancy, and co-founder of Global Trade Insights, which offers executive education in trade policy to governments and private sector clients worldwide. She is the Chair of the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority. Stephanie has deep specialist expertise in digital trade, regional economic integration in the Asia-Pacific, the World Trade Organization, agriculture, trade and gender, and SME inclusion in trade.

Tommy Honey is a director, designer, educational manager, architectural critic, cultural commentator and occasional architect. He has worked in the theatre, taught architecture and design, directed a Film School and been CEO of an Art & Design college. Tommy was for a long time the resident urbanist on Radio New Zealand’s Nine-to-Noon, and in 2018, he completed a Masters in emergent and disruptive technology at the Tech Futures Lab, where he investigated disruption in housing. Tommy is currently the Executive Director of the New Zealand Construction Industry Council.
